Some news I’m happy to share: since early 2026, I’ve been leading the Artificial Intelligence Special Interest Group (AI SIG) at M3AAWG, on top of my role as Lead Research Engineer at Hornetsecurity.
M3AAWG (the Messaging, Malware and Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group) is where the industry comes together to work against bots, malware, spam, viruses, DoS attacks and other online exploitation. I’ve attended and presented at several of its General Meetings, so taking a more active part felt natural.
The AI SIG provides a forum for members to share insights on the evolving role of AI in both enabling and combating abuse, and to identify gaps where collaboration can improve outcomes. Our focus areas include:
- AI-generated phishing and scams;
- synthetic identities;
- automated content and abuse at scale;
- defensive applications of AI.
Speaking of which, I’ll be giving a talk at the upcoming M3AAWG 68th General Meeting in Paris, France, later this month:
🇬🇧 LLM Optimization in Practice: Better Results Without Fine-Tuning or Wasting Tokens
Attending too? Come say hello!
If you’re a M3AAWG member working with AI, machine learning or security (or simply curious about how AI is reshaping the threat landscape), come join us!
